Are you in need of a checking account but unable to open one because of ChexSystems? Want to open a checking or savings account for the first time? Need a second chance? Want to learn more about your current account?

Second Chance Checking is designed for people who currently don't have an account with a financial institution or want to learn more about their current account. Maybe you have never had an account and don’t know how to start. Maybe you have had problems with an account in the past that are making it difficult to open an account now. Or, maybe you want more information about managing your current account.

This educational program is designed to help you get access to mainstream financial services whether you have had problems managing your accounts in the past or if you simply have never opened a deposit account. By obtaining checking account privileges, consumers enjoy the convenience of not having to purchase money orders and cashier's checks to pay their routine bills and save money on numerous fees.

The program curriculum is focused on financial management practices. During this course, you can expect to learn:

• How to choose an account that is right for you, including low cost checking options and how to avoid costly fees
• How to balance your checkbook and reconcile your statement
• How to avoid common mistakes in managing your account
• How your account relationship can help you establish credit and access other services

Class Fees
Pre-registration is required - No payments accepted in class!

$40 Individual, $60 couple (Scholarships are available for those who meet annual income eligibility guidelines)

If you have outstanding fees from a prior account, you must settle that account before opening a new one. If ChexSystems reports suspicion of fraud on a prior account, a certificate will not be issued and institutions are not required to open an account.
